The Mavic 2 Series

With the latest Mavic series, you can choose between the Pro (with the Hasselblad image quality) and the Zoom versions.

This 2nd generation series has all the features you like about the Mavics, foldable and portable. This latest offers better imaging and transmission systems than the first generation Mavics.

Mavic Pro Vs Mavic Pro 2

What’s The Difference Between Mavic Pro And Mavic Pro 2?

What do these two have in common? One of the main features in both is the 3-axis gimbal for stability during flight.

How do they differ? The main differences include those in the imaging system, flight time, and control range.

You should know that the Mavic Pro is no longer produced by DJI.

The one on the market at present is the Mavic Pro Platinum, which is quieter and will fly for slightly longer than the original Mavic Pro version. See my quick review of the Mavic Pro above.

Imaging System Mavic 2 Pro Vs Mavic Pro

The 2nd generation Pro version features a better imaging system.

Here, you have the Swedish made Hasselblad camera, which gives you 20MP shots and Hasselblad’s Natural Color Solution (HNCS).

This compares to the 12MP of the 1st generation, Mavic Pro.

More about the Mavic 2 Pro imaging system:

  •  1″ CMOS sensor
  • Aperture can be adjusted (f/ 2.8 — 11 for different light conditions)
  • 10-bit Dlog-M color profile (gives greater flexibility to fine tune color)
  • 4K 10-bit HDR video (supports instant high-quality TV playback)

The sensor of the Mavic 2 Pro is four times more effective than that of Mavic Pro, meaning it captures more data in each pixel.

Flight Time And Control Range

In addition, the Mavic 2 Pro will fly faster, for longer, and further than the Mavic Pro, i.e. 44 vs 40 mph, 31 min vs 27 min (30 min Mavic Pro Platinum), and 5 vs 4.35 miles respectively. And…It has DJI’s low noise technology.

Intelligent Features

Mavic 2 Pro is the only drone to feature ActiveTrack 2.0 and Hyperlapse (shots auto processed; JPEG and RAW stored simultaneously).

Portability

Both are portable type drones, like all Mavics. The Mavic 2 is slightly heavier than its predecessor: Weight of Mavic 2 Pro is 907 g or roughly 2 lb, while the Mavic Pro is 734 g or about 1.6 lb. Check the latest price of the Mavic 2 Pro at the DJI Store
